Wikipedia about the profession

You can read articles about this profession on Wikipedia. Interesting materials on the website of the Russian Academy and in the regulations of municipal administrations and departments. Many federal universities are also represented in the Wikipedia rubricator.

Having been educated in specialties state and municipal management- who then work, understand only a few. Many have the erroneous opinion that with this specialization you can count on the position of an accountant or economist. Cases of such employment can be found, but very rarely. Dating or an acute shortage of personnel help. If you want to become a manager, economist or accountant, it is better to choose another specialty.

Main directions of future work.

After receiving a diploma, all yesterday's students have three alternative paths:

  1. Service in the state structure.
  2. Work in a private company.
  3. Position in an independent research organization or institute.

The choice will have to be made depending on your ambitions and financial needs. After five years of training in the basics of analysis and forecasting, it will not be so difficult to understand the possible prospects of any position. But most often you will receive offers related to office work. Graduates, as a rule, refuse such work. Referring to the low salary, great responsibility and low interest in the profession.

But in fact, this can be a good push, the first step on the career ladder. The main thing is not to get stuck in one place for a long time.

In the service of the state

Having chosen to serve in a state organization, you must be aware of the responsibility entrusted to you. In fact, you are an intermediary between the people and the institutions of power. Having only a diploma in hand, you can count on the position of a specialist of the second category. Unfortunately, corruption has not yet been eradicated in our country. So in some situations you will have to fight with those whom they are trying to "drag through the pull." A few years ago, the salary of an employee of this rank was only 10-12 thousand rubles. Today, the amount has increased to twenty and continues to grow every year. The state supports its employees, in some regions the income of state employees exceeds the average wage. But in private companies, a young specialist can count on a higher salary. So decide what is important to you - momentary profit or the realization of ambitions. In public office, the second will be much easier. Of course, there is a career ceiling, but once you reach it, you can relearn.

Work in a private corporation

The second point may seem a little strange, assuming work in private companies. After all, you studied for a specialty in municipal and state administration, what does corporations have to do with this? But each large firm there is a department whose activities are aimed at cooperation with government agencies. You will need:

  1. Analyze actions of the authorities - the laws adopted by it and the policy pursued.
  2. Search ways to interact with it.
  3. run and support joint action programs with local governments.
  4. Define the basic needs of the firm, in the field of state power.

As you can already understand, not every office can boast of interaction of this level. Basically, we are talking about monopolists and huge corporations. In some of them, the state is the founder and the holder of part of the shares. It will be a difficult task to find employment in an organization of this magnitude. The institute itself, with its extensive connections and developments, can provide significant assistance. Take advantage of work experience time if you are sent to a non-state institution.

In the case of choosing this specialty, the position of the head of the department will become the ultimate dream. But wage At first, it attracts personnel to such firms.

Analytical centers and consulting firms.

The third option will not give you a huge salary or the ability to allocate administrative resources. But if you are interested in exactly analysis, forecasting and everything in the same vein, a consulting agency or a research institute will be the best option for you. With accurate and far-reaching forecasts, in a few years you can earn a name and weight in a certain environment. Your opinion will be listened to, you will be regularly invited to various analytical programs. But only a few will achieve all this, most of the employees are busy with more prosaic duties. The opportunity to get into an international consulting company opens up unimaginable opportunities for graduates in terms of realizing their own potential.

Basic requirements from the employer to the graduate.

So far, the main skills that students are taught over the course of five years have not been named:

  1. Analysis- development financial markets, changes in tax policy, tracking political trends, possible risks of management activities.
  2. Organization- work in government bodies, labor of other employees.
  3. Development- new bills, programs for the development of the whole region.
  4. Planning and control budget expenditure, activities of other employees.

In addition to all of the above, you should already be able to organize public relations, communicate in several languages and offer advice to private enterprises. Such ideal employee grab with hands and feet anywhere, but we only strive for the ideal.

After graduating with a degree in state and municipal administration, you decide who to work with later. Just do not forget to apply the knowledge gained during your studies in practice. For example, during the same job search. Don't jump into any position, but choose what works best for you.

Speciality "State and municipal administration"(or, as they say in everyday life - GMU) is one of the youngest modern Russia officially established in 1992. In February 2015, a new federal state educational standard of higher education was put into effect towardstraining 38.03.04 "State and municipal management" ("bachelor"), which assumes maximum orientation educational process to the needs of the labor market. To date state and municipal administration universities identified as one of the most sought-after areas of training.

From the very name of this specialty, it is clear that professional activity graduates in the future is connected, first of all, with work in civil public service positions in government and administration at the federal, regional or municipal levels. But not only.

Anyway, specialty GMU gives a young man a good impetus for a future career. And although to exclude protectionism on the same public service still early trend recent years unequivocally testifies: there are more and more of those who climb the career ladder precisely because of the successful development of the specialty of state and municipal management and their own perseverance.

Our university has accumulated extensive experience in teaching state and municipal management. Its graduates (just ask about it in the "News" section of one of the most popular search engines) occupy today leadership positions in various departments and regions. There are also many who, having received the specialty of the State Medical University in Moscow, made a career in the capital. In general, today in our university state and municipal administration These are bachelor's and master's degrees.

After all, it is precisely these qualities of a modern and future leader that make it possible to achieve success in public administration and the economy, business, reforms in spheres of life, industries and public institutions.

Undergraduate GMU - it's for us!

What will I be when I graduate from GMU

After leaving school, young people are faced with a choice of where to go to study in order to get higher education and which one to choose future profession. I was interested in the direction of "state and municipal management". This direction is currently relevant and in demand all over the world. Many changes are taking place in our country now, new laws and reforms are being developed that cover the social, political and economic spheres of society. All this requires competent public administration. Therefore, the training of highly qualified specialists is now at a high level of study.

I chose this direction not by chance. Today Russia has a high percentage of unemployment. Upon graduation, I will receive comprehensive training in economics, sociology, law and management. I can apply this knowledge not only in public, but also in private structures, which means it will be easy to find a job. This area has a wide range of opportunities: Insurance Company, research organizations, education system, service and tourism, banks, city halls, etc.

After graduation, I will become a manager of state and municipal government. I will learn how to plan individual and joint activities of the team to complete the tasks in the shortest possible time, act strictly within the law, find information and solve problems, be purposeful. Each organization needs an employee in the field of control management, forecasting profitable transactions, a manager, a head of a department. A good specialist should be able to develop business plans, business games, develop leadership skills, learn how to communicate with people - all these qualities can become decisive for successful work in any company. All this depends on the person, his desire to study, gain knowledge, perseverance and work.

The work must be interesting and exciting. I would like to work in the administration of the city of Khimki (Moscow region). It is a big and bright city. For me, everything that is dear to a person is connected with him. Here I was born and raised. I see how every year our city develops, becomes more beautiful and I would like to take part in its destiny.

I will need to gain experience in order to make my dream come true and I will become the Deputy Head of the District for Social Affairs. To do this, it is necessary to develop business and personal qualities in oneself, to strive to change in better side, "grow". I will have to deal with issues of protecting the interests of society, develop job descriptions department employees social relations, lead and manage the activities of minors and the protection of their rights, the administrative commission of the district, the youth council of the district, the interdepartmental commission for the organization of recreation, education, upbringing, health, culture, youth policy, sports, tourism, veterans' movement, to organize and conduct systematic and targeted propaganda aimed at the prevention of offenses with the involvement of the media.

I think that my profession and knowledge will contribute to the development of the city.

The very specialty "State and municipal management" began to take shape in the second half of the 90s. Then it became clear that for a real reform and ensuring the vital activity of the state at any, be it at the federal or at the municipal level, we need not narrowly specialized specialists in management, law or finance, but professionals of a broader specialization who are able to navigate the trends of lawmaking, financial and budget planning based on a comprehensive analysis of both the current moment and development prospects.

In contact with

Already at the stage of a university entrant, a person who has chosen this one must, given his abilities, decide in which direction of activity he will work after graduation.

During the introduction of training in this specialty on the "topic of the day" training standards were constantly "modernized" and modified. So, the last federal training standard for state and municipal management was only introduced in 2015. It is easy to guess that in order to ensure career growth in this specialty, training along with obtaining "crusts" will not end. Therefore, the applicant must be aware, first of all, of his ability to constantly self-learn a wide range of knowledge, which requires natural curiosity and a broad outlook.

Important character traits for a future specialist are communication skills and the ability to work in a team in the roles of an attentive subordinate, an equal in a team of like-minded people, and even a strong-willed head of a unit. In addition, a specialist in state and municipal administration is in demand in the field of relations of his employer organization with the public.

Specialists of state and municipal administration after graduation are usually in demand in three main (but absolutely unequal) areas of activity. Let's consider each of them in more detail.

Naturally, this direction can be considered the main one, since this vacancy involves the provision of state institutions with professionals. Among the main advantages in this direction can be considered the fact that the employer is the state. Accordingly, the timely payment of wages and all related guarantees to the specialist are provided from the outset. As for material well-being, a person who has chosen an official career after graduating from a university should be patient.

At first, you will have to start with wages about 20–25 thousand rubles, if the work will be in the central regions, from a salary in 13 thousand rubles when working on the periphery, and even in general on a volunteer basis.

Career growth may not be fast, but the most promising, since this is where you can get the very priceless personal experience , acquire a base of skills for further development from a simple clerk to the head of the first link or deputy of any level. But even if you are not creative or have career aspirations, you can still gain a foothold in hardware positions where conscientious clerks are needed. As experience increases salary in public institutions will rise automatically.

In a business that is focused on the long term, rather than created for short-term profit, managers, as a rule, also need specialists who have the ability to to analyze:

  • the market for products or services that the company specializes in in order to increase the company's competitiveness;
  • legislative acts (including in the field of taxation) to optimize the company's activities in order to reduce risks and losses.

In addition, the competence of such a specialist in a private structure may include issues of joint cooperation between the enterprise and government agencies, the implementation of programs of interaction with local governments, marketing or advertising work in the company, various image developments to create and promote a positive image of the company.

It would be useful to explain that the prospects for advancement in a private company and, as a result, an increase in the material well-being of a specialist are somewhat more fleeting than in state structures. However, "coming off the street" to a position in this kind of company is almost unlikely. Therefore, in order to prove your need or indispensability as a future employee, you may still have the opportunity, for example, when undergoing industrial practice during the process of specialty training.

All universities that provide training in state and municipal management are in dire need of replenishment with fresh personnel due to the fact that this specialty is new, and, as previously indicated, is constantly in development.

If a graduate during the education process showed a sufficiently great interest in knowledge, demonstrated a creative approach to the subject of study, had positive reviews from the teaching staff and from the place of internship, he has every chance to continue his studies in graduate school, with a further transition to research and teaching activities both in his "alma mater" and in other universities that have a specialty "State and municipal government".

Only rather large private firms and companies that have proven themselves over a long period of time can afford entire departments of specialists in which graduates of state and municipal administration can work.

The vast majority business structures(especially medium and small businesses) still cannot provide a vacancy even for one specialist in this industry. But the feeling of the need to keep up with the times also inclines them to the need for long-term planning based on analytical calculations provided by consulting and analytical centers, the core of which is university graduates with a degree in state and municipal management.

Initially, this is not such a lot of money, but if your forecasts turn out to be the most accurate and useful, you may well “put together” an acceptable image for yourself in this profession and reach higher levels of demand with decent funding.

Social studies (at the choice of the university);

  • computer scientist and information and communication technologies or foreign language (at the discretion of educational institution depending on the direction of training in specific professions at the university).
