Darwin followed the latter especially carefully, trying to find out what feelings "rain" retained in the process of evolution. He played the piano to find out if they had hearing; sprinkled with perfume to test the sense of smell; defiantly chewed tobacco in order to catch the sparks of the wormy consciousness. Nothing! The worms remained deaf, dumb, blind and inflexible. The only thing that the scientist discovered was the signs of sociality: the “wards” often lay down next to each other.

The mere name of Edgar Allan Poe makes us reverently awe, and a raven, a pendulum, a crowd of heads and all the horrors of the school curriculum in literature immediately fly before our eyes ... It seems that at this place you should wake up in a cold sweat, when you suddenly realize that you haven’t sleeping. Ah-ah-ah-ah! The founder of the detective genre and the progenitor of science fiction is the darkest soul in world literature. Tragic events and failures rhyme in his biography like lines from "Morella", "Ligeia" and "The Fall of the House of Usher": wealth and poverty, love and death, family mansion and rooming house, fabulous earnings and death in a ditch. Dinosaur-obsessed paleontologists from 1877 to 1892 competed with each other in the search for fossils, resorting to bribery, theft, and even destruction of valuable bones, so as not to get a competitor. In an attempt to achieve paleontological superiority, the once wealthy "hunters" went bankrupt, but unhealthy passion and obsession paid off: Cope and Marsh discovered at least 142 new species of dinosaurs.

An obsessed artist, writer and scientist, who imagines himself a god on earth in a secluded closet (a formidable laugh sounds), is an image that has been attacked more than once in cinema and literature. The protagonist of Mary Shelley's science fiction novel "Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus" wormed his way into this indiscreet company of real geniuses for a reason. It is hardly possible to remember in history a more crazy and talented natural scientist who decided to cure the world of its main “disease” - death. For those in the tank: Frankenstein is not the name of a monster assembled like a patchwork quilt from body fragments, but the surname of its creator. The old film adaptation of the tape about an obsessed sociopath with ambitions has already set the teeth on edge, but then a new thriller arrived in time - "Victor Frankenstein". The creators did not limit themselves to one theater of horrors. (Spoiler! The monster in the picture is far from alone.) Under the cover of night in a black-and-black city, much more fundamental questions are being raised: who are we? Where did we come from? Where do we go when we die?
