How to write a contract for the sale of a car yourself

If you want to sell or purchase a car, then according to the Civil Code, the confirmation of the transfer of money is a contract of sale. This document does not have to be notarized, that is, you can simply write it by hand on an ordinary sheet of A4 paper. You can easily download the form itself, as well as a sample filling on our website. In addition, in any MREO at the stand you will find a standard contract form.

When compiling a document, it is important to adhere to certain rules:

  • carefully check whether all your data and the data of your partner are correct;
  • check whether the information about the car is correct - VIN code, registration number, chassis, body, power unit numbers;
  • it is necessary to draw up a contract in three copies - two of them go to the buyer, one - to the seller;
  • you can’t leave empty columns - make a Z-shaped dash in them.

Also pay attention to the authenticity of the contract of sale - today cars are often sold by hand using fake documents. You can check the past of the car by the VIN-code. Such a service can be ordered both in the traffic police department and on specialized sites, for example, on the official website of the traffic police.

Step-by-step completion of the contract by hand

Hat

The header indicates the number of the contract, its name (purchase and sale of the vehicle), date and place of preparation. The number is prescribed only if the document is filled out at the notary's office, or the number is already affixed to the MREO when the form is filed into the archive. Therefore, you do not need to write anything here.

In the left corner we write the name of the settlement, on the right - the date. It is advisable to write the name of the month in words (March, July), so that everything is very clear.

Passport data

After the header, we indicate the passport data of the seller and the buyer:

  • full name;
  • number and series of the passport;
  • date and place of issue;
  • address of permanent registration (if the actual address of residence does not match the registration, we also indicate it);
  • home or mobile phone.

Vehicle Information

The car is the subject of sale, therefore, all information is also indicated in the car agreement:

  • brand and model (Volkswagen Golf, Renault Kangoo, etc.);
  • VIN code, registration number, engine, chassis, frame numbers;
  • Production year;
  • body color and type (red, passenger, sedan).

Then we indicate the prices in words and in numbers - worth four hundred and fifty thousand rubles, 00 kopecks (450,000 rubles).

It is clear that all the specified data must be checked very carefully.

If the contract is drawn up manually on a blank sheet of paper, after all this information, it is enough to indicate:

  • the term for the transfer of the car and money (in the event that the amount is paid in installments or the car is located elsewhere);
  • a list of all property that passes to the new owner: tools, spare tire, dokatka, multimedia or audio systems, and so on.

You need to make a list of things, if only because sellers often write in ads that the car has a multimedia system or a set of winter tires is attached. But after the transfer of money, all these things are not found.

Therefore, specify in advance what exactly you are paying money for.

Signing an agreement

Having indicated all this information, the seller and the buyer once again carefully check everything. Then in the left corner write: “I transferred the money, I received the vehicle”, full name, date, signature. In the right - “I received the money, handed over the car”, full name, date, signature.

We have given the simplest sample of filling out a contract of sale, which can be written by hand. If you contact a notary or download an approved form from the Internet, then there will be more items:

  • header - place and date of compilation, full name of the seller and buyer;
  • the subject of the contract is the transfer of the car (all data of the vehicle are indicated);
  • price and payment procedure - how much the vehicle costs and how the buyer will transfer the money (immediately, after three days, in installments within six months, etc.);
  • delivery time - when the seller transfers the ownership of the vehicle to the buyer;
  • transfer procedure - to whom the vehicle is transferred, at what address, a list of things passing to the buyer with the car;
  • final provisions - from what moment the contract enters into force;
  • addresses and details of the parties;
  • confirmation of the transfer of the amount of money and receipt of the vehicle with the signatures of the parties.

If we are talking about a transaction between an individual entrepreneur or LLC, then the contract will have a more complex form and it must be drawn up by a notary.
